the town of webster, new york is now mourning. the joy of christmas>> very difficult... sot resident - it's just devastating. the suspect's home was one of the ones that burned. his sister lived with him.and is unaccounnted for. there is a vigil being held tonight for the fallen firefigters. >> it was a snowy weekend in the sierra. some tahoe area ski resorts are reporting near record amounts of snow. live tonight in the east bay with a quick look at traffic and an update on the >> this past saturday, the 680 had to be shut down. however, a different story. let me show you some of these road conditions. this is a caltrans camera along interstate 80 at the donner summit. the road is clear, but look at the piles of fresh snow one the sides of the road here. a couple miles away, same story near the the donner lake exit. now even though the 80 looks good at the moment, caltrans is screening trucks for snow chains eastbound at applegate and westbound in truckee. now let's take a look along highway 50 in south lake tahoe. again lots of fresh new snow, but the roads are clear.

york and northern new england. they get upwards of 18 in. of new snow. 2 in. of snow is falling per hour in new york and new hampshire and portions of vermont. obviously a lot of flights have been canceled out words of a couple hundred. it looks like a lot of the affected weather will subside as we head into the weekend. this powerful winter storm has had its effect on the entire country. we sought some in the bay area as well as texas. and some tornadoes touched that the dow in the south on christmas day. the red on your screen indicates winter storm warnings. the white, not to much of it. there are wind weather when joe advisory's and a fact. it will subside as we head into the and afternoon but a lot of flight cancellations. we will continue to monitor that here on kron4. in the bay area occurring conditions temperatures are in the '40's. waking up to make clear skies and we will see sunshine into the afternoon. heading into tomorrow, changes abound and showers are in the forecast. it will continue into saturday

in new york, you probably remember this, some of you, in 2008 high school students were going out on a weekly basis beating up immigrants that they thought were supposedly undocumented immigrants. the students all knew about this but the adults didn't. it results in a hate crime, a murder. a couple things i wanted to bring up. what does it take to unseat bias? first of all, we have to look at all the places that people are getting that violence, those attitudes, and have dialogue about it. just like amina said, we need to be getting to know each other. some researchers back in the 40's came up with 4 important things to address prejudice. the first is getting it know each other, talking about it, getting it out in the open. the second is equal status, we're not just feeling sorry for those poor little whatevers that are difrplt than us, but we are all equal. the third one is working together and i think about the giants, we're all for the team, not all together not as if we are color blind and color doesn't exist but with our diversity. the fourth is with power and
